International Relations

The international activity of Southern Federal University is aimed at partnership with universities abroad. It includes teaching foreign students and trainees, consulting post-graduates and those working for doctor’s degrees, carrying out joint research and academic exchange.

At present, SFedU has around 202 partnership agreements with international universities and organizations belonging to 44 countries. Annually, about 500 SFedU employees and 350 students go abroad, and about 450 foreign experts and trainees are invited to visit the University. SFedU regularly holds international conferences, workshops and meetings.

International students receive career education in more than 160 majors. Moreover, the university has the Preparatory Department for International Students, Russian Language Testing Center, a range of Russian Language Courses, and Professional Development Courses for teachers of Russian as a foreign language.

SFedU is an active and successful collaborator of various international foundations, organizations and programs, among which one can name ТEMPUS, German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Civilian Research & Development Foundation (CRDF), as well as the International Research & Exchange Board (IREX), National Council for Scientific Research in France (CNRS) and others.

Southern Federal University is an official member of a number of international associations and consortiums, including: the European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU), the International Association of Universities (IAU), Programme on Institutional Management in Higher Education (IMHE), the European Association for International Education (EAIE), the European Universities Association (EUA).

Since 2007 Southern Federal University has been implementing the Oxford Russia Fund Scholarship Program. These scholarships were established to support education in Russia and stimulate gifted and promising Russian students in their studies, research and practice. Within the framework of co-operation with the Fund, the University was also given over 2 thousand books in social and human sciences printed by the leading British and American publishers.

  • Independent Russian-German Institute of Journalism
  • Center for Ukrainian Studies
  • Spanish Cultural and Linguistic Center — El Centro Hispano-Ruso (supported by Santander Bank).
